Targeting financial aid towards those that need it most in the form of non-repayable grants for low and middle income students
Increasing investments in scholarships, bursaries, and non-academic awards
Increasing the Repayment Assistance Program (RAP) threshold to match increases in minimum wage
Transparency and Accountability
Requiring a two-thirds majority for those present and voting on any motion at the Board of Governors pertaining to tuition and fee changes
Ensuring that universities are transparent and accountable for both academic and non-academic fees
Meaningful student consultation and inclusion at every level of the decision-making process
Student Wellness and Mental Health
Long-term commitment and investment for on-campus mental health services
Allocating funding to institutions on a per-student basis
Ensuring student consultation throughout the decision-making process
Quality Infrastructure & Environments
Continued, predictable increases to core operating grants that maintain the quality of education
Dedicated, long-term investments to address the backlog of deferred maintenance and reduce the overall debt-load needed to maintain safety and quality of existing infrastructure
Committed investment to “Lights On Funding” for any ongoing and upcoming projects at the University of Alberta, University of Calgary, University of Lethbridge, Mount Royal University, and MacEwan University
